“Making a difference in someone’s life” motivated me to change careers and become a teacher. Putting high value on education and the difference it can make in a child’s life were and are driving ideas behind my teaching. Twenty plus years of teaching third through seventh grades have gifted me with nine years in Washington state and LASD for the remaining years. My Bachelors of Arts at Cal State, Northridge in Journalism/ minoring English was followed years later with a teaching credential and Masters in Teaching from City University. Following training with SJSU San Jose Area Writing Project, there have been several summers teaching creative writing. I treasure my times with each year’s students, and recognize how much they have given back to me - they are making a difference in my life. Working and teaching with amazing LASD educators inspire me daily. I also treasure my time with my wonderful family. My husband and I enjoy visits with our three grown children and their families. I always make time for a good book, yoga, hiking, and cooking.
