I have enjoyed teaching in Los Altos for 20+ years. I came around to finding my favorite job in a roundabout way. Growing up on a farm in the Texas Hill Country, attending the University of Texas at Austin for a BA degree in French and Spanish, I began my studies/travel trajectory to Cholula, Mexico, then on to Barcelona, Spain, then on to Aix-en-Provence in France, ended up getting a Master’s Degree at the Sorbonne in Paris, and then moving Westward, I taught French and Spanish at the University of Cincinnati, and finally landed on the West Coast in the Bay Area! After my two wonderful sons, Nicky and Mattie finished Kindergarten, I became a Teacher’s Aide for their K teacher in Palo Alto! Realizing that Kindergarten was my true calling, I got my teaching credential from Notre Dame de Namur and was hired by LASD. Teaching kindergartners is my joy! There is nothing better than seeing a 5-year old growing self-confidence and becoming a social being who learns kindness and begins to share their world with other children! I believe that humor is the key to great learning and I make sure that my students laugh, feel safe, and thoroughly enjoy their first crucial year in a school setting! Cooking, reading, taking long walks, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends keeps my out-of-school life full and rewarding. I love my job and I love my Kindergartners!
